Dan Davis ( dan_davis_team_07 ) , President of Rapid City Youth Soccer League and coach of both RCYSL and Rushmore Soccer Teams, has been awarded the winner of the Liberty Mutual Insurance “Responsible Coaching Award” for South Dakota. This award recognizes a coach that “achieves and maintains excellence on the field, demonstrates an on-going commitment to athletes off the field and honors and respects the game”. Davis is not only president of the RCYSL and coach of a Rushmore Soccer team but he also serves as a member of the “Soccer Complex Committee” that has secured an arrangement with the City of Rapid City to develop a 22-25 field complex for soccer. His work with young people and with the community leaders is an example of outstanding community leadership.

Staff Sgt. Robb Rolfing: It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of Robb Rolfing who was killed in action in Iraq on Saturday, June 30th. Robb was 29 years old and had played soccer from grade school through college. Robb was a Staff Sargent with the elite Green Berets and according to Robb's father, Rex - "He said one of the last times when he called, 'We're doing good over here, and nobody is reporting how much good we are doing.' He said that over and over and over again". He is survived by his parents Rex and Margie, brother TJ and sister TIffany. Funeral services are set for Tuesday, July 10th at 10 a.m. at the Sioux Falls Arena. Rolfing will be buried with military honors at Woodlawn Cemetery. Congratulations to Chad O'Donnell - 2006 US Youth Soccer National Boys Coach of the Year
Chad, Sioux Falls, has been named the 2006 US Youth Soccer National Boys Coach of the Year. Chad was the Sioux Falls Soccer Association Coach of the year in 2002, named South Dakota State Soccer 2006 Boys Coach of the Year, and also named 2006 Region II Boys Coach of the Year. Chad and his wife, Cindy, have three children: Dylan, Emmylu, and Dobby. He began coaching in 1991 when his eldest son was 5 years old, and has stayed in the program, coaching all three of his children. Through his coaching career, Chad has obtained a "D" coaching license along with taking the referee training course. In 1999, his club team became the first South Dakota team to ever win a regional championship. He has also led several teams to state titles. Chad is the fourth Sioux Falls Soccer Association coach to win the Region II award in the past 9 years.
