Risk Management Disclosure
In order to protect and provide a safe and healthful environment to children participating in SDSSA’s sanctioned soccer clubs, leagues, programs, and tournaments, all SDSSA employees, coaches, assistant coaches, team managers or any other volunteer who is expected to have regular contact with youth players must complete a Risk Management Disclosure. It must be filled out at the start of your involvement with players/teams and needs to be redone each fall as long as you are involved with players in any capacity.
Through our efforts in protecting our players. We have recently undergone a change in our Risk Management Service. We will be working with Sport Engine who serves countless youth soccer and sport associations across the country. We are excited about the opportunity to work with Sport Engine and believe their services to better protect and take the matter of player safety very seriously is aligned with our values.
The Risk Management Process
Every competitive head coach, assistant coach and team manager must Create An Account at the following link. Every recreational head coach and assistant coach must Create An Account at the following link.
**If you received an email on August 2nd, with a 'passcode' from SDSSA you will use this 'passcode' when prompted during the registration process. This is for all coaches who have coached in the last 2 seasons to help us better filter coaches through Sport Engine.
**If you are a new coach you do NOT enter a passcode because you weren't given one and simply need to complete the steps in the online form.
**For every coach or manager filling out their risk management there is a $10.59 fee. If you are an association and want to cover these costs for your coaches and managers you need to email Dale Weiler, firstname.lastname@example.org to learn how to this works.
**Your Risk Management Form should then be complete.

For those who do not want to disclose their social security numbers via the SDSSA online disclosure site, may use this procedure. Please contact the State Administrator at the SDSSA office and they will mail you the fingerprint cards (605-371-2255). This is so we can conduct both state and national checks (The SDSSA background check vendor has secure access to our online sight to conduct random and batched checks)
Those not wanting to go this route may use the procedure above. We have to do both FBI and DCI because DCI only does background checks for South Dakota and does not include national information. The information is released directly to the SDSSA background vendor, who reviews and sends a report to RM for approval.
