Risk Management

Procedure 2018-2019

In order to protect and provide a safe and healthful environment to children participating in SDSSA’s sanctioned soccer clubs, leagues, programs, and tournaments, all SDSSA employees, coaches, assistant coaches, team managers or any other volunteer who is expected to have regular contact with youth players must complete a Risk Management Disclosure. It must be filled out at the start of your involvement with players/teams and needs to be redone each fall as long as you are involved with players in any capacity.

Again, this year we will utilizing Sport Engine as our resource to collect risk management disclosures, run background screens and to have coaches go through the newly implemented Abuse Prevention Systems Training.

Below are the steps that should be taken regarding Risk Management for the 2018-2019 Soccer Season, which runs August 1st, 2018 – July 31st, 2019.

SDSSA employees, competitive and recreational head coaches, competitive assistant coaches, competitive team managers or any other volunteer who is expected to have regular contact with youth players must complete a Risk Management Disclosure and Abuse Prevention Systems Training.

Returning competitive and recreational head coaches, competitive and recreational assistant coaches, competitive team managers or any other volunteer who is expected to have regular contact with youth players. THAT DID RECEIVE AN EMAIL ON AUGUST 1st, DIRECTLY FROM SPORT ENGINE.
Must follow the prompts in the email that was sent and complete your Risk Management Disclosure sent by Sport Engine directly to you.
Upon completion, you will receive an email titled “Awareness Training”, which you then need to complete as well. This Abuse Prevention Systems Training will take between 60-90 minutes. We understand this is cumbersome but want to reiterate how important it is that you complete this.

Non-Disclosure of Social Security Procedure

For those who do not want to disclose their social security numbers via the SDSSA online disclosure site, may use this procedure. Please contact the State Administrator at the SDSSA office and they will mail you the fingerprint cards (605-371-2255). This is so we can conduct both state and national checks (The SDSSA background check vendor has secure access to our online sight to conduct random and batched checks)

Those not wanting to go this route may use the procedure above. We have to do both FBI and DCI because DCI only does background checks for South Dakota and does not include national information. The information is released directly to the SDSSA background vendor, who reviews and sends a report to RM for approval.
