State Tourneys Explained

List of State Tournaments for 2008

State Cup // May 30 – June 1 (For Premier teams wanting to play at Region II tournament)

Classic Cup // May 30 – June 1 (For Challenge Rec., Rec. A, Classic or D-II club teams)

Kohl’s Cup // June 6 – 9 (For true recreational teams with few or no club players)

State Cup:  Rapid City

This tournament is set up for our Premier level teams in the state to challenge each other for a chance to play at the Region II tournament.  If you play in this tournament the same team cannot play in either the Classic Cup or Kohl’s Cup.

Classic Cup:  Rapid City

This tournament is a newly formed tournament this year that will allow for any teams that would usually play in the “A” or “Open” division of the Kohl’s Cup.  It is also set up for all other club teams that are not playing in the Premier bracket.  This is basically a chance for those competitive teams that want to win a “State Championship” to do just that.  Also, if you have a recreational team that wants the competition you are welcome to enter.  Age divisions will be U12 – U19.

Kohl’s Cup:  Rapid City

The philosophy of the Kohl’s Cup is to provide those “true” recreational teams a chance to play each other in a true festival environment.  There will be NO true champion in this tournament but several winners at each age level.  The teams that want a competitive environment should work towards playing in the Classic Cup as there will be no open division after the 2008 year.

These tournaments are three different levels of tournaments to hopefully provide a chance for everyone to compete on an equal playing field.   If you have questions please feel free to contact either of the two V.P.’s listed below to help you to making an informed decision.
